Waialeale; his mother, Sachiko; his sisters, Barbara Marks, Josephine Like, Healani Beirne, and Sharleen Waialeale. George Waialeale impacted the lives of many. He was a true gladiator when it came to fighting his own cancer, and when championing for the many causes and organizations with which he was involved throughout his life and career. George had an abundance of friends and loved spending time with them. He was a graduate of McKinley High School, Class of 1965, and was active in the McKinley Alumni Association and his reunions. He worked for Hawaiian Telephone Company for many years, and served almost as many years as a union shop steward, until he left the company to become the business manager of the union, IBEW 1357. After leaving the union, George, an avid Democrat, stayed active on the political scene, wholeheartedly supporting his favorite candidates, and as a lobbyist. His passion for photography became a side business, but he often took pictures for friends’ events as gifts. George served proudly as a member of Company C, 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry, United States Army of the Pacific and in his later years, supported the preservation of the history of this famous "Go for Broke" unit. We, his family, believe that he took that motto to heart and let it be his guide throughout his life. Mahalo to the many family members, friends, and caregivers that loved and supported George throughout his struggle with cancer.
