On March 6, 2018 at the age of 88 our beloved father, Walter S.M. Kim, of Waimanalo went to be with our beloved mother, Myrtle W. Kim. He died peacefully surrounded by family at St. Francis Hospice House in Nuuanu. Dad was born on December 6, 1929 in Huelo, Maui to Yun Kiu and Martha (Luaehu) Kim. The family later moved to Honolulu where he graduated from Farrington High School in 1948 and was hired as a lineman for Hawaiian Telephone Company. In 1951 he was called to serve in the United States Army in Korea during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1953 and returned to Hawaiian Tel until he retired in 1987 with 30+ years as a Supervisor Project Engineer. Dad worked hard all his life and was a perfectionist which showed in everything he did; his beautiful yard & garden work, his wood work, in his Kim Chee making, and in his precise record & bookkeeping. Everything was to a T! Dad enjoyed going to Vegas and playing Pai Gow for hours, & Keno. He also spent hours doing his Sudoku Puzzles! He is survived by Sons: Greg (Tracy) Kim, Eric (Mela) Kim and Jason (Robin) Kim; Daughters: Denise (Dennis) Kim-Chaffin and Melissa Kim (Clyde Tanaka); 29 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren & 5 Great Great Grandchildren; Sisters-In-Law, Brother-In-Law and Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends. Services will be held at Mililani Mortuary Downtown, 20 S. Kukui Street on April 9, 2018. "Aloha’s" to Dad from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Services: 10:00 a.m. Interment: 1:00 p.m. at The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Aloha Attire. No Flowers. |
