JOHN “BUTCH” CULLEN FERNANDEZ 82, passed away on November 23, 2018 in Marina, California. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii and a 1954 graduate of Saint Louis High School, Butch was a retired Army Sgt. Major who served for over 30 years. He served with various Special Forces units and retired as the Post Sgt. Major of Fort Ord. Butch then joined Seaside High School as an instructor for their JROTC program. He was an active member of the Special Forces and Old Soldiers of Hawaii chapters. Preceded in death by son, Bryson (Reiko) Fernandez of Wai’ahole, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Letittia “Lei”; daughters; Dawn (Joe) Camacho, Pat-Lynn “Malia” (Steve) Jaurigue and Letittia “Sukoshi” (Pat) Moana all of California. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister Sylvia “Kina” Fernandez and brother Robert “Bobby” Fernandez. A Memorial Service will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary on January 29, 2018. Visitation: 8:30 a.m.; Service: 9:30 a.m.; Inurnment: 11:00 a.m. at Kaneohe State Veterans Cemetery. |
