ROBERT I. TAKATA 85 of Honolulu, died October 28, at Tripler. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 4 at Aiea United Methodist Church at 10:30am. Bob was born May 2, 1932, on Maui, to Ryuichi and Ichi Takata. Bob served in the United States Army before graduating from Michigan State. After returning to Hawaii, Bob owned many restaurants: Waikiki Diner, Swanky Burger, Salad Bowl Cafeteria, and Dough Boys where he baked his famous cinnamon rolls. Bob also taught food service at Kapiolani Community College. He is survived by his wife, Lois, of 54 years; daughters, Irene Harris (David) and Joan Shodai (Craig); granddaughters, Elaine Harris (Zack), Cassy Nakata (Holan), and Chelsea Shodai; and a great-granddaughter Aliyah Grace. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Gladys Ono, Satsuki Ouchi, and Miriam Fujita. Please consider making a donation to Aiea United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
