DAVID SHIH-KUANG HSU David S. Hsu, 96, of Mililani, died on August 2, 2017. Born July 11, 1921 in China and graduated from St Johns University in Shanghai. In WW II helped rescue downed Allied pilots and POWs and was awarded the Medal of Freedom. Later attached to the Chinese Consulate in Tokyo where he met and married Betty Yoneko Take. Worked for US intelligence on Okinawa until retirement. In Hawaii worked as a translator for Immigration Services and taught the Chinese language, receiving a 1996 Adult Education Teacher of the Year award. Private, unassuming, kind, decent and gentle; fiercely devoted to his family. Pre-deceased by wife Betty. Survived by sons Doug (Karen) CA; Mitch (Vickie) VA; grandchildren, Wendy, Becky, Mitchie, Carly. Private service.
