HAROLD NEWTON BRAINE Born: 10-6-45 Died: 3-22-2017 Passed away peacefully after being in a coma for 3 years. Leaving behind his wife of many years, Jeannie Mackey; daughter, Terri (Sean) Demello; grandson, Shaun; great-grand-daughter, Kaile’a; sisters: Margaret "Stevie" (Harold) DeMello, Leilani (Ivan) Holmes; many aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins. Preceded in death by parents, Albert N. & Margaret K. Braine; brother, Albert Wm (Kapua) Braine. He often said that his "guitar took him around the world." While he played at various venues during the summer months. He would do 6 month gigs on cruise ships and got to travel a lot in the early days. At age 11, he was able to play the ukulele and guitar and any type of music. By high school (Roosevelt ’63 graduate), he had a band and entered many contests: Show of Stars, Battle of the Bands at the Civic Auditorium. In the late 60’s, his band was featured on the popular Joey Bishop Show. He was also an avid cyclist and often rescued and kept various animals, dogs, & cats. He also liked to travel via his VW van. A simple graveside service will be held on his birthday, Friday, October 6, 2017, 1 pm at Oahu Cemetery. He will be buried with his parents, grand- father and nephew…family! He will Rest In Peace with his family, his last and final wish. Arrangements made by his sister and cowboy pal "Stevie".
