LOUIS LEE SMOOT GLADYS FUMI HASHIMOTO SMOOT Louis Lee Smoot, 100, of Mililani, passed away on July 27, 2017. Gladys Fumi Hashimoto Smoot, 98, also passed away on July 27, separated from each other for a mere ten hours. Louis was born in Baltimore, Maryland and arrived on Oahu as a young US Navy Chief Petty Officer in 1944. Gladys was born in Waipahu, Oahu. They met in 1945, and married in 1947. Following various duty station moves, they eventually transferred to Guam in 1959 with their four children. Louis retired from the Navy in 1961, and rose to the position of Senior Marine Cargo Specialist at the Naval Supply Depot, Guam. Gladys was busy raising the children, enjoying golf, and watching grand- children. They retired to Hawaii in 1985. They are survived by Ann Cornwell, Marc (Mona) Smoot, Byron (Debby) Smoot, Leilani (Chris) Eliason, 13 grand- children, and 17 great-grand- children. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Mililani Memorial Park, Mauka Chapel, on Sept 9, 2017; Visitation 5:00PM, Service 6:00PM. Inurnment at Punchbowl, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Sept 11, 2017, 11:30AM.
