MARTHA NEWTON BUSTARD Martha Newton Bustard passed away in Medford, Oregon on June 7, 2017 at age 100. Martha was born in Salida, Colorado and raised in Sierra Madre, California. She moved to Honolulu in 1941 shortly before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Martha was a devoted wife and mother, an active community volunteer in the Junior League, AAUW, Bishop Museum Library, and Central Union Church, and retired from the Bank of Hawaii. Following a private family service at Central Union Church on August 17, 2017 Martha was interred at the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl with her late husband, John Warren Bustard. Martha is survived by her children, John (Susie), Jennifer, and Michael (Gemma); grandchildren, Andrea (Nathan), Natasha (Elden), Kathryn (Steven), John, and Emily, and great-grandchild Levi. Donations in Martha’s honor may be made to the "John Warren Bustard ’36 Endowed Scholarship" at Punahou School, 1601 Punahou Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96822.
