LEONIE LANI BATOMALAKI LEGGETT Leonie was born on June 28, 1923 in Cebu, Philippines, and peacefully passed away at her home in Honolulu on July 30, 2017. She was preceded in death by husband, William Thomas Leggett, who passed away in 2002. Leonie is survived by a large family, including her daughters Priscilla "Ku’ulei" Alice Jeffrey and Deborah Lani Groves, and son-in-law Ronald Stanislaus Jeffrey. She also leaves behind a sister, Caridad Bega. Her legacy will continue into the next generations, including grand- children: Nathan Kawika Jeffrey, Desiree Ku’ulei Jeffrey, Courtney Alison Groves, Joseph Thomas Mika’ele Groves, Amelia Marie Leonie Groves and Madeline Olivia Kneringer. She was also great grandmother to Kale Jeffrey. Leonie’s hula dancing was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She was also tough and hardworking, caring and funny. She was a server at Three Coins and Dots restaurants in Wahiawa where she enjoyed meeting new people and talking story with regulars from the neighborhood. She was also a beloved member of Na Ku Ku ‘Olu ‘Olu I Ka Hula which was led by her daughter, Kumu Hula Ku’ulei Jeffrey. A public mass will be held at 12 PM on August 25, 2017 at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace followed by a private burial.
