EDNA TAKAKO KIMURA July 12, 2017 Edna Takako Kimura, 100, of Kailua passed away at home on July 6, 2017. She was born in April 1917 to Kinji and Some Nishikawa and grew up in Honolulu, graduating from McKinley High School. She was one of ten siblings. The family commuted from the 1930’s to their leased property in Kailua (Kukanono Subdivsion along "church row") and where the Kailua Theater (Goodyear Tire) was located until they moved to Kailua. They had a poultry, fruit trees, and plants farm. Edna spent her time working there as well as at their Kailua Fruit Stand situated along Kailua road where some of their lychee and avocado trees still remain. While her passion was in growing orchids and all kinds of plants, picking ogo, cooking, and baking, she found pleasure changing to "retirement mode" during her 80’s. She is remembered for being a gracious lady with a lovely smile who always put others first through her quiet patience, understanding, and thank you’s. Predeceased by her contractor husband, Dick Tadao Kimura, of 65 years, she is survived by daughters Sharon and Sandra, sister-in-law Margaret M. Kimura, and nieces and nephews in Japan and Oahu. Special appreciation to extraordinary friends for their support and care: Doris Kino, Mark W. R. Chung, MD, and David J. Randell, MD. Private family service held.
