SECTION 106 NOTICE PAPA’ALOA ELDERLY HOUSING PROJECT,
KAIWILAHILAHI AHUPUA’A, NORTH HILO DISTRICT, ISLAND OF HAWAI’I

County of Hawai’i Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) is receiving federal funds for elderly housing on a 2.5-acre parcel in Papa’aloa, Kaiwilahilahi Ahupua’a, North Hilo District, Island of Hawai’i [TMK: (3) 3-5-003:049]. OHCD will replace 7 older buildings with 12 new buildings. The project is subject to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The property is located between Old Mamalahoa Highway (Kekoa Camp Road) and Mamalahoa Highway. The project is within a built environment of homes, parking lots and roads. There are no archaeological sites on the property. We welcome any information you can provide for historic properties, cultural sites or history of the project parcel.
