PROPOSED PLANS
FORMER LARGE BOMB RANGE (MRS TG001) AND
FORMER URBAN WARFARE TRAINING FACILITY (MRS TM001)
BELLOWS AIR FORCE STATION, O’AHU, HAWAI’I

The United States Department of the Air Force (USAF) announces the public comment period for the Proposed Plans for the Air Force Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) Former Large Bomb Range (Munitions Response Site [MRS] TG001) and Former Urban Warfare Training Facility (MRS TM001), located at the Bellows Air Force Station on O’ahu, Hawai’i from 15 September 2020 to 16 October 2020.

The Proposed Plans present the preferred remedial alternatives of Subsurface Munitions and Explosives of Concern Remedial Action and Land Use Controls (LUCs) for MRS TG001, and LUCs for MRS TM001. The USAF, in coordination with the State of Hawai’i Department of Health (HDOH), will select a final remedy for each site after reviewing and considering all information submitted during the 30-day comment period. These remedies were selected in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 as amended by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986, National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan, the HDOH State Contingency Plan Hawai’i Administrative Rules 11-451, and Hawai’i Environmental Response Law under Hawai’i Revised Statute 128D guidelines.

Due to limited participation of the first virtual public meeting conducted on 21 September 2020, A second virtual public meeting is scheduled for 7 October 2020 at 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm HST via Microsoft Teams platform which can be accessed via the call-in info below.
